Titanium Nitride Gold (Tin) and Aluminum Titanium Nitride Rose Gold (Variantic) are both impressive coatings for firearms and small parts. Used across the firearm and the machine tooling industry to provide self lubricating properties and high resistance to abrasion and wear, both are applied to the metal through physical vapor deposition (PVD) and is a great representative for state of the art firearms plating.  These coatings both have a polished appearance in their own respective colors: gold and rose gold. The TiN and Variantic are both excellent coatings that offer incredible resistance to wear and abrasion. TiN and Variantic have proven to be a great choice for the following reasons:

What can TiN and Variantic be applied to?

TiN and Variantic can only be applied to metals such as carbon steel and stainless steel.  It is appropriate for frames, slides, barrels, and control parts.  It cannot be applied to aluminum, brass, or polymer.

How do I care for TiN and Variantic?

TiN and Variantic are very corrosion resistant but like all plated finishes, it’s best to apply a very light coat of oil to TiN and Variantic for long-term storage. A solid cleaning every once in a while will be sufficient to maintain the coating.
